It’s probably safe to say that if you’re a CrossFitter in Colorado or the surrounding states, unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve been one of those people talking about the 2012 CrossFit Games Southwest Regionals this weekend. And for good reason too. The growing popularity of CrossFit was no doubt evident at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Event Center. With standing room only, and 5 people deep at that for many of the heats, people came from all over to watch some of our region’s, and the country’s, best CrossFit athletes compete for their right to make it to the Games in July.
Were you there on Friday, Saturday or Sunday? What did it make you want to do? Were you itching to get back to Modig and perfect your snatch? Or work on those double-unders? Did it build your desire and your motivation to work your ass off over the next year so you might have a chance to compete in next year’s Regionals? And why the hell not, right? If women between the ages of 17 and 51 can do it, then why not you? Or how about the men, many of whom were lifting weight far beyond their own body weight…and making it look easy? CrossFit is just so damn awesome. Its always fresh, it’s exciting and maybe, just maybe, watching the Regionals this weekend will push you to take your training to the next level. And it doesn’t have to be about competing. It can be about anything you want…but if watching the Regionals lit a fire in your belly, then by all means, stoke that fire.
