Modig Fitness Member Profile – Judy Hundley

Welcome 2015! Please enjoy learning a little more about a veteran of Modig Fitness, Judy Hundley (f.k.a. Judy Busch)!

Judy

  1. Where did you grow up?
    1. 1. On a ranch 20 miles east of Walsenburg, CO.
  2. How long have you been Cross-Fitting?
    1. 2. For almost 3 years.
  3. What is your favorite WOD?
    1. I don’t really have a favorite WOD. Anything that doesn’t involve snatching! 😉
  4. What’s your favorite lift?
    1. My favorite….hmmm…. Probably cleans or front squats.
  5. What’s your least favorite CF move?
    1. S.N.A.T.C.H! Loreli is the only crazy person I know who actually likes them.
  6. What do you think is the biggest myth about CrossFit?
    1. I don’t know which annoys me more; hearing women say “I don’t CrossFit because I don’t want to bulk up like a man” or when people say “I won’t CrossFit because it’s dangerous and a good way to get injured”. Both just sound like excuses to me.
  7. What’s your favorite non-CrossFit activity?
    1. Coed volleyball with the hubby!
  8. What’s your nickname?
    1. Nicknames…. Booty- A friend in high school had a moment of dyslexia and called my Budy Jusch and Judy Booty just kinda stuck with me. Buschwacker, Judakins, and my mom calls me Peanut.
  9. What do you do for a living?
    1. Stay at home wife; soon to be stay at home mom! I also help my husband with his broker business.
  10. How has CrossFit changed your life?
    1. The first day I walked into Modig, I was terrified. I had never lifted a free weight in my entire life. I was completely out of my element, but wanted/needed to get in shape and heard that CrossFit was extremely difficult. So, not because I’m competitive or anything, I had to try it. Little did I know that this Box would become such an important part of my life. It has changed me mentally and physically, and has brought some pretty amazing people into my life. CrossFit has completely changed my mindset. When I first decided to try CrossFit, it was so that I could lose some weight and tone up. Isn’t that what everybody wants? However, somewhere along the line, my focus became less on how my body looked and more on what my body was capable of doing. Sure, it felt great that I was fairly fast at running and that I picked up double-unders pretty quickly, but the feeling of being able to deadlift almost twice my body weight or back squat 200#; indescribable. It has also taught me to let go of judgment. No matter how great you are, there will always be someone faster and stronger than you. And maybe they aren’t today, but someday they could be. We all have to start somewhere. I know firsthand what CrossFit has done for me and my life, but it’s just as gratifying to see fellow Modiggers hit personal PRs, or complete an Rx WOD for the first time…because I’ve been there. I know that feeling.
