Modig Fitness would like to extend its thoughts and prayers to Kevin Ogar, a member of the CrossFit and Colorado community who suffered a tragic accident at a competition this weekend. Kevin suffered a significant spinal cord injury during a snatch event on the final day of the OC Throwdown competition. He was immediately taken to the hospital where he has already begun a long recovery beginning with surgery.
According to Barbell for Boobs, Ogar suffered a separated T11/12 and has severed his spinal cord. At this stage it’s being reported he has no voluntary movement below his waist.
Unfortunately, like many athletes across the world, Ogar is uninsured. To help offset his medical bills, a fundraising page has now been set up. At the time this article was published, more than $100,000 had been raised with more than 1800 people donating.
If you want to show your support, you can find the Fundly page by clicking here.
To keep up to date on Kevin Ogar’s condition, you can follow Barbell for Boobs Facebook page which can be found here.

Kevin Ogar – Coach at CrossFit Unbroken
“I get to do what I love every day; help people eat well, train correctly, and live better lives.”
Kevin began following the CrossFit regimen in 2008 in Columbia, Missouri. He began competing in Olympic and Power Lifting in high school, and continued to compete in Power Lifting through college at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he also played Rugby and acted as their Strength Coach. While in charge of their strength and conditioning program, the team went on to rank third nationally across all Division II schools in only their second year with Kevin. Upon moving to Colorado, Kevin played Rugby with the Glendale Raptors Division I team. He has recently chosen to make CrossFit his sport as well as his career.
