Dee Nock has been a member of Modig Fitness for nearly seven years and dispels any and all myths about age as it relates to exercise and lifting weights! Our members, both the ones that have been with us since the beginning and those that have only recently begun, are the foundation of our business and our community. We’d like to share a little bit about this lovely lady!
Where did you grow up? I moved here from Scottsbluff, Nebraska when I was three months old. I have lived my whole life in the Denver area (except for college).
How long have you been CrossFitting? It will be seven years this May, wow!
What is your favorite WOD? Any one that I have lived through!
What’s your favorite lift? The Deadlift and the Power Clean
What’s your least favorite CF move? The Snatch
What do you think is the biggest myth about CrossFit? That people won’t be able do it. I started CrossFit in my early 50’s at my lowest physical condition. I did On-Ramp with David and followed all the training and diet recommendations for that beginning six-week program. It is the only fitness program I have ever done that radically changed my physical appearance and habits. All the coaches are so accommodating with modifying anything for my age/level.
What’s your favorite non-CrossFit activity? This question is like picking a favorite star—I love them all. I would have to say waterskiing because I spend all summer at the lake, May through September. Then my family travels and competes at tournaments throughout Colorado.
How have your nutritional habits changed since starting CrossFit? A ton! I followed the paleo diet the first six weeks when I started CrossFit and I never felt better. I also lost about 15 pounds during that time. I do not follow that exactly anymore but I have really modified my diet to pretty much sticking to the basics of protein, veggies, fruits and good fats. I never watch my diet on vacations or holidays because life is too short for that!
What’s your nickname? DeeDee
What do you do for a living? Graphic Design
What’s something about you that people don’t know? I was widowed at 28 when my first husband lost his battle with Leukemia.
How has CrossFit impacted you? It has been one of the most life altering things in my life other than my Christian faith.
