1. Where did you grow up?
Fort Collins, CO
Moved to Highlands Ranch 9 years ago. We love it here.
2. How long have you been CrossFitting?
Only 2 months. I worked out other places before and have tried other forms of fitness but CrossFit brings on a whole new challenge. I love it. It’s not boring. There is always something to conquer. And for me that’s everything in CrossFit right now. Haha! So I guess I’m here for the long haul. Bound and determined to RX all my workouts.
3. What’s your favorite WOD?
Anything with rowing or running. I know, I’m weird.
4. What is your favorite lift?
Right now I’m liking the Clean and Jerk. But I have a feeling I will learn to love the other lifts as well.
5. What is your least favorite CF move?
Snatch. It’s my nemesis.
6. What do you think is the biggest myth about CrossFit?
That it’s scary. Well sometimes it is, but it’s still fun! And that only really intense scary people do it. Everyone is so nice!
7. What is your favorite non Crossfit activity?
Reading. I’m a huge book nerd. I mostly read fiction. And get really passionate about the writing, symbolism, irony, etc. Ummm, yes I used to teach English can you tell?
I also love watching movies and TV. Again it’s the writing I love so none of that reality tv stuff. The more stumped I am watching a show the better.
And spending time with my family. I have three kids, ages 6, 4, and 1. I’m exhausted most of the time but I love them. I don’t always like them but I love them. Experiencing life through their eyes is a one of a kind unique adventure. Nothing else can compete with that.
8. What’s your favorite (paleo or non-paleo) food?
Mexican food!!!!
BUT we eat a lot of paleo dishes and getting kids to eat that way is tricky. So my two favorites, that the whole family loves, are paleo chili and paleo jumbalaya. Yum!
9. What is something about you most people don’t know?
I met my husband when we were 9 years old. He completely drove me crazy. We fought all the time, annoyed each other but were still good friends. 14 years later he finally got the nerve to ask me out.
10. What is your nickname?
Mol, mom, mommy, momma, hey you! Honey?
11. What do you do for a living?
Most people would say Stay At Home Mom but I really prefer:
Chief of Operations for the Gilbert family
Chef, housekeeper, taxi service, nanny, nurse, counselor, tutor, and the list goes on.
12. How has CrossFit hanged your life?
I started CrossFit because I watched it change my husbands life. He became a new person. Healthy, happy and on admission to get the whole family to experience what he had. We changed the way ate and changed our life style. I’ve only been doing crossfit for 2 months but it’s been influencing my life for 2 years. The best part is competing with my husband. Talking WODs and showing our kids how do a burpees.
